Collect and preserve information resources published about Maldives and by Maldivians for future use. This can be in digitized form for easy access, browsing and searching.
Acquisition of new information resources bearing in mind the legal deposit law, carrying out reader surveys to improve the stock and weeding outdated information resources.
Carry out the library science activities of acquisition, classification and cataloguing according to International standards and providing library services in a computerized format.
In addition to information resources acquired by the library, create project files for school children on selected topics. Information on special events can be collected and given as one document for public use.
To make users more aware of the information resources in the library, create, collate and publish the National Bibilography
Improve the library services in all the libraries throughout Maldives by providing all the staff with at least the basic library training course and lobbying for funds.
Provide Mobile library services throughout Maldives.
Improvement of staff and thus the quality of services.
Improve the Library science field in Maldives with the collaboration of regional and international organizations.
