CAS was formed on August 2001, and consists of 3 staff.

This Department deals in giving away relevant current information in required format to the public on relevant time.   
 
 Entering, displaying and maintaining of Newspapers and Periodicals to the library.

 Current Awareness services

 Selecting and marking the essential articles from the newspapers.

 Scanning and Indexing of newspaper articles.

 Carrying out the duty of maintaining the current awareness programs. All the procedure of reaching the three local news papers to the public in relevant time is one major task of this department. The local news paper articles are classified according to the subject and are scanned for future.

 Preserving of the newspapers and periodicals for a period of 2-3 years.

 Local newspapers, magazines and journals are preserved for future.

 Arrangements are made to provide current and up-to-date information.

 Files and booklets are made on special days and special events.

 These file as stored in digital format as well as in print.

 Preparing and maintaining of Project files.

Students require project files on very specific topics to complete some of their assignments; this department makes all efforts to meet their needs.
Project files are made for more then 35 topics. Most of the information are taken from the Internet since it provides the most recent information. 
 
If there is a request to search for any article on a news paper or  a magazine of any date all sections of the library directs the person to this department, since we make all effort we can to give away the needed information on relevant time.
