The IT unit was formed on December 2005, and consists of 3 staff.

The IT unit overlooks all the matters related to the following areas:-
Audiovisual section planning and development- the national library is planning on the creation of an audiovisual section. This will include all types of digital media.

Library automation software- the library is currently at the implementation stage of a library catalogue which will allow users to search and browse for books electronically

Maintenance of the library website
Maintenance of computer network
Procurement and repair of electronic equipment
Setting up networks with other libraries and organizations
General supervision of the IT related matters of the library
